Why Should You Buy
This Book?...
I'm Jackie Kelm, author of Appreciative
Living, and I want to take the ideas in
this book and shout them from the
mountains. They have created greater
happiness, love, and abundance in my
life than I ever dreamed possible, and I
wish ever person could experience
such sheer joy in life.
This is way beyond a self-help book.
It's like an encyclopedia for living.
It dives deep into the principles of
Appreciative Inquiry, supported with
theories from Positive Psychology and
the New Sciences. But it also provides
practical steps and exercises for
creating the ideal life.
It's one of those books you will refer back to again and
again (I do, even after having written it!) and it has been used in
workshops, graduate and professional courses, and book study
groups. I designed it to be almost like a reference book, where you
can quickly find whatever you need. Let me explain by starting at
the end...
The last chapter is a bullet-point summary of all the
ideas. This is one of my favorite chapters. There are so many
concepts in the book I find it really helpful to have them all
summarized in one place. The end of each chapter also has a
summary, and that is another way to skim thru the material.
The second-last chapter has transformational exercises,
and most can be done in 5-10 minutes or less. I tell people
all the time, you do not need to read or understand a single word
in the book. If you just do 3-4 exercises each week, your life will
transform. You don't need to understand the concepts for this stuff
to work. It's not what you know that counts, it's what you do.
And now let me jump to the beginning of the book. Part 1 contains
theory and research from many disciplines, some of
which I mentioned above. If you are the kind of person who likes to
understand things, you will eat this section up. If you are a student
of Appreciative inquiry, you will feel like you finally understand
what it's all about. It is full of intriguing ideas and concepts that will
take you really deep into how we create our life experience, and
how the whole thing works. If you are the kind of person who
doesn't really care how it all works, you can frankly skip Part 1.
And that's okay, because you will love Part 2.
Part 2 was born after I was blown away with new ideas and
thinking from writing Part 1. As it all swirled around in my head, I
realized I needed to simplify it down. I sat back and considered all
the concepts taken together, and created a simple 3-step
model. This model contains the essential steps for applying the
principles in any situation. I use it extensively in working with
others and in workshops.
Finally, the book is loaded with inspiring quotes. I love
great quotes, and one person told me the book was worth it for
just the quotes alone. I'll let you be the judge of that...
So, that's basically what's in the book, and why it is priced a bit
more than the average self-help book. It's like a resource guide for
life. If you order now from this site, I will sign it for you. As
much as I like selling books, my real passion is inspiring people to
change their lives. My greatest hope is that the book will act as a
catalyst for you to discover the strength and wisdom within to
create a life beyond your wildest dreams. I know it has for me...

Jackie deeply understands the principles and meaning of AI, and has clearly communicated them to us in this practical yet elevating book. Her voice is accessible and friendly, her explanations of the principles crystalline in their clarity, and her exercises are just right... I can't think of any area of my own life where her book has not touched. It's clearly a work of the heart, and a real, substantive contribution.

I really enjoyed your book and I'm getting great value from it both personally and in my work with senior executives.
